R500 to activate cheque account

I opened a gold cheque account late last year, around October and they told me the account was active yet it wasnt. I went in to FNB several times to activate and every time i sat in line for 3 hours or more and couldnt wait any longer as I head my companies office in JHB and had to be in the office.

I then went in today, the 12th April 2013, tried to activate it again and they told me that I need to pay R500 to activate the account as it was a new rule for this year.
I then proceeded to say that I had opened the account last year, therefor I refuse to pay R500 activation fee, as that rule only came in this year.

I then told them that because I had opened the account last year, I will NOT pay the activation fee and should that be a requirement then I will take my business elsewhere. Then the assistant said that he didnt know what to tell me. I have told them to close my account as I find this service absolutely disgusting and refuse to deal with people like that.
