I opened a Cheque and CC through FNB, I then went to go collect the cards but what happened next has opened my eyes to just how much the FNB cookie is crumbling.
There is an account on FNB's system that I ALLEGEDLY opened 10 years ago. This account has remained active for 10 years attracting a service fee.
FNB now has the tenacity to say that I owe them a debt on that account. An account that has had no activity for TEN years.
In the 10 years that account has been open, I have received absolutely NO correspondence what so ever. No phone call, no email, no letter, no sms, nothing to inform me of an account in my name.
I know for a fact that no bank allows any account to remain active past 3 months if no activity has been recorded. According to FNB's own website inactive accounts are CLOSED after 1 year. But this account keeps running for 10 years? How is that even possible?
I am a very good bank customer, I was going to apply for a home loan and a car loan during the year, but FNB's utter incompetence has dissuaded me from ever wanting to deal with anything FNB.
Someone very high up the FNB chain needs to call me to sort this out. I want to cancel my cheque and credit card.
