I took out a personal loan, and arranged with the bank to debit my account on the 28th of each month (installment is R1578.26). For an unexplainable reason my installment was not debited in January, so my account was in arrears (not my fault!!) I made a payment arrangement with the loans department that they would take off my installment half the arrears on 28 Feb and the same on 28 March.

On 25 Feb ONLY the arrears (R789.13) were debited. On 22 March another R789.13 was debited. I had no knowledge of this since I did not give permission to debit on this date. Therefore when I tried to draw money from my account yesterday I was told there were "insufficient funds". I tried at three different ATMS (3 x bank charges) because I did not know what was going on! I now have NO money available to me to buy food or anything. On top of that they want to debit me TWICE on the 28th of March because they FORGOT to take off my installment for Feb!! I've been a loyal Nedbank client for almost 20 years, and especially given that this is not the first issue I've had, I will be closing my account. I refuse to suffer because of the bank's mess-ups!
