From excellent marketing to closing of accounts

FNB call centre contacted me June'12 to open accounts with FNB, Ref. 000000012901258es. I reacted positively to this as a result of the "Steve" TV & radio commercials marketing FNB products, benefits & services. My car is currently financed through Wesbank.
I opened a cheque & credit card accs, my intention was to move all my banking to FNB in order to enjoy the benefits as advertised.
On 23/11/12 I had my first call from FNB as I have not paid my salary into the cheque accout. I mailed Kirshen details of my current facilities and rates, I received a lengthy response on 29/11/2012. From this reply I understood that FNB could not accommodate clients who have existing facilities at other banks, I did not receive a response to my mail. I followed up once or twice after this but with no response, Out of pure frustration I mailed Kirshen and asked him to close the accounts, still no response.
I then transferred funds from my current bank account to the FNB cheque account on 13/01/2013 only to discover this morning that the account was closed without any notification to me.
Its all about marketing, achieving targets & opening of accounts which they are happy to close at a drop of a hat.
