How can we NOT help you

I've been banking with FNB for over 2 years now and NEVER had any issues until today. My wife recently got a new job, and needed to open an account for her salary to be paid into. Now since she has NO accounts on her name, the only proof of residence that exists would be our rates account which is addressed to both of us as Mr and Mrs.

When we got to see a consultant, he mentioned that there may be a problem with the rates account being used as valid proof, because her initials are not on it. We explained that she has no other accounts and that I am an existing FNB Gold Cheque account holder (which didn't seem to matter). He asked if I have any other accounts. The only other account was Telkom. The consultant then suggested I go to the Telkom store for a printed and stamped account, which I did.

I returned with the Telkom account as he requested, and he leaves his desk to "verify" the documents. He then returns only to tell us that both the rates and Telkom accounts cannot be accepted. NO ATTEMPT was made to accommodate / meet us half way! We were simply turned away after all that!

We then went to Nedbank in the same mall, and left with a savings account. Thanks for nothing
