My garage door fell on Sunday and the garage motor kept running till it blew. I got emergency guys to come and fix the door and before they did that they switched off the motor as it was making a peeping (continously) noise. When they were done with fixing, they switched the garage motor on and it peeped once and did'nt work after that. I registered a claim with OOBA and Hollard as the underwriter sent a SP to assess the motor a week later. This guy opened the motor cover, wrote things in his book closed the cover and left. A week later i call and spoke to a lady called Funeka who told me that they only received the report that day and the claim won't be entertained cause it's maintenance. WTH. I bought this house 3 months ago, wonder what else is not covered. Why does OOBA take cover of a structure which was owned by someone else without checking that proper maintenance was done. My garage door's panes fell and the motor kept running, where is maintenance there? I was an assessor myself for a reputable company and we never rejected claims without evaluating the source of the peril. I have video footage of this incident which was never requested. Hollard/OOBA .Ombudsman i'm coming
