I am a standard bank Prestige account holder from nearly 4 years. I open the account with my Indian Passport and later i got south african ID and i updated my banking details.
In last month i applied for a home loan through one of the bond agent. It was approved 90% and the bank guys appointed the attorneys. last week i got a call from the attorneys and they ask me that i was single or not. I told them, i was married as per laws of India, 2 years ago. Today i got a call from my bond agent telling me that the loan was reduced to 50% by the standard bank attorneys as i married an indian lady. I want to know on what basis the loan percentage will be calculated. I updated my maritical status details after my marriage, with the standard bank and also as i am with standard bank they should know about it before approving home loan. As this was the only reason that i married a indian lady, how come some of my friends got 100% loan approval even though they got married. I want to know on what criteria i will get a home loan up to 90% . If this was the reason and i will be getting only 50% loan means, I am very much unhappy with the Standard bank and i dont want to continue any more.
