I received notification from ABSA that they would be deducting an extra R1500 off my bank acocunt unless I supplied them with proof of insurance. I had in the prior two months sent through confirmation of insurance for the purposes of getting a border letter and so wrote an email to advise them they had just received confirmation of insurance. I then got an SMS saying the same thing, to which I again replied they had confirmation of my insurance. I didn't get an acknowledgement to either communication so I again (third time) sent a mail saying I had supplied confirmation of insurance. On Saturday, ABSA took the R1500 from my account anyway. My account has now gone overdrawn and I want my money back as well as the fee for the overdraft and interest that will be accrued. I would like an apology. If Absa intend to bully people out of their money with threats, the least they could do is provide the courtesy of a resposnse when I do send a communication.
