Lost money at atm, bad service from Standard Bank

On 28 November 2012 at 7h20 I made a cash withdrawal at a Standard Bank atm Terminal STDS6532 Excel petrol station, located at corner Kingfisher Street and Pheasant Street, Roodepoort, Gauteng.

I was withdrawing R3000 but i only received R2700. I reported this to the Excel manager. It turns out the tray of the atm where the money comes out has a hole/gap and if you are withdrawing a large amount of cash some of the money drops down to the back of the atm. Only the atm people can access this. The manager tells me this machine has been reported numerous time and exchanged but it still has the same error. I reported this matter on the same day to Standard Bank by telephone and they said it would take 21 days to investigate. Ref: 50896422. It is now 07 January 2013 and I have received no response from Standard Bank. More than 21 days.

Why has there been no word from Standard Bank? I am appalled by this type of service.

I e-mailed them again on 7 January 2013. They phoned to say someone would phone me back the following day and nothing happened.

How many people have been lost their money this way and what is Standard bank doing about it?
