I recently sold goods to a seemingly honest man in South Johannesburg with a Nedbank account, I am an FNB account holder. I received proof of payment, as well as, sms notifications of the EFT deposits into my account on Monday 5 February. I double checked my balance & the money was not reflecting in my account. When I enquired, calling the Nedbank call centre, I was told it would take 12-24 hours to clear, however there was a guarantee that the funds would go into my account.
When an amount went into my account & reflected on my balance, I assumed it was the EFT & realised the goods, only to discover a Cheque had been deposited into my account - which is still to be cleared (I am not hopeful of that)
After contacting FNB to no avail, I went into a Nedbank branch only to discover the Id number I had was linked to a closed account? How is it possible I received proof of payments & sms notifications of payments? No one has helped me or explain this mistake. Shocking banking service - where no one is willing to help or explain how has happened.
