I have been a prestige account holder with Standard Bank for years and on my birthday the 17th of January this year I got a call from my personnel banker to wish me a happy birthday. This is the first time in 10 years I have had a call and it is to wish me a happy birthday when I have had 100's of complaints in the past that she could have called me about to see if she could help. Anyway, taking advantage of this once in 10 years phone call I asked her to look into my account and come back to me with some suggestions on how I can reduce my exorbitant bank charges and surprise, surprise! I have not heard from her since. I have already opened both my new business accounts with First National Bank as they have far superior service levels at far lower costs. I have also paid off my vehicles, credit card and overdraft so those accounts will soon also move over to First National Bank. The only thing which will be left will be my mortgage which will soon also be taken away from Standard Bank.
