Was hospitalised for an emergency operation first to find out that the hospital plan which i was under my understanding a hospital plan and not hospital insurance as it was not sold to me as insurance but a hospital plan. Secondly when I tried to claim the insurance will only pay for 3days and more. Which was also not made very clear when you do the initial sign up. How can any normal person affored even 1 say in hospital. If it is a matter of life and death one has to check into hospital. I was in hospital for 5 days and 2 nights. 3 Of the 5 days was as outpatient where was charged a room rate for everyday i went in to get my antibiotics vienintrevenus drip. This can only be done in a hospital as it is a schedule 6 and 7 medicine. Which very few people know can only be done in hospital. But because i did not stay over night. I have no claim. Also why should a hospitalisation plan have a minimum criteria on as it is classified as medical needs. Let me think i will check myself in hospital and have an operation and claim. i wont and cant think of anyone who would. My expenses R 25000 What is the use of insurance if u cant claim.
