I have a student loan account and a cheque account with SB. A few months ago a lady phoned to tell me that my loan debit order did not go through as result of insufficient funds in my account. I told her that I had not been receiving statements and that my salary gets paid into my FNB account, therefore it would be best that they change the debit order to my FNB account and close my SB account. She agreed that she would change the debit order and I gave her the details. A month later a guy phoned to complain about outstanding payment. When I told him about my grief, he told me that he couldn't help. I made a manual payment into my student loan account, and this month made a manual payment again. Now today I get an automated phone call from Standard Bank threatening to take legal action against me! I haven't even been receiving my email statements! When I phoned the call centre I was told to go into a branch, I WORK 12HRS a day. I got put through to a branch, where I got put on hold with no response. And by the way, NOW I SEE THERE IS R573.80 OUTSTANDING ON AN ACCOUNT I ASKED TO BE CLOSED AND FOR A DEBIT ORDER I ASKED TO BE MOVED. I am terribly disappointed in SB's incompetence.
