Nedbank debit orders

I have a nedbank cheque account, my account when into the minus and i do not even have overdraft on my account, now this morning i got a sms saying debit orders going though. Nedbank is quick to phone and complain about my account being in the minus but they cant even keep to our agreement that the lady on the phone assured me was being recorded. How can my account go in the minus if i was declined a overdraft on my account?
