A year ago I closed my cape union mart account and in October 2013 I decided to activate again. two weeks down the line I received an sms that I should pay my account that is owing R82 that I don't know where it came from since I didn't use the card. I called them and ask where does the charges come from and she told me is for new card activation. I paid R50 within a week. on the 23 December 2013 I got a statement that showed I now owe R115.32. I called and they told me is for insurance and service fees. remember I never used their cards but I'm having insurance. they said they have sent me a letter of collection that they charged R19 for it . the letter is sent to an 10year old address that doesn't exist anymore, mind you this people have my email address and they didn't bother to send it to it.
This is the first time I hear that card that is fully paid accumulate money for insurance. I have other retail cards that when is fully paid up the balance stay zero zero and this one that charges you insurance that you didn't take when is zero zero it have insurance and service fee ever month. This is a total REAP OFF.
I cancelled the card today, hopefully no charges again.
