Additional Charnges and cannot Close Account

ON the 26'th of June, I called ABSA for a settlement amount on my credit card to close the account, on the same day I paid the "settlement" amount owing on the account, but because the transfer is from another bank to a credit card it takes a number of day's to reflect, which is understandable. So now that I call ABSA to confirm that the account is settled I'm informed I owe them more money the "bank charges" for July and I CANNOT CLOSE MY ACCOUNT until I have ALSO paid the BANK CHARGES for July as well... The bank charges is for live insurance and whatever else on an account that has not been used in over a year and for which I don't even have a card to be able to use it...

No wonder all the people I know are also closing there ABSA accounts and moving to Capitec Bank and FNB.
