On 11-09-2013 approx.7pm, I went to draw money at standard bank ATMs in Brackenhurst. I followed the machine instructions as normal but looking on the screen for the next step, my pin number was boldly displayed on the screen and i immediately tried to cancel the transection but my card was witheld by machine. I waited at the machine and in the mean time trying to call the toll free number written on the machine, only to find out that the number was invalid. I had to call a friend to get me the correct toll free number without moving away from the machine and while busy doing that, I heard a sms message alert and upon checking, a withdrawal of R4200.00 was made from my account which was far beyond my daily limit of R 2500.00. After getting the correct toll free number, I reported what happened and was given the number for report which I did and told to wait for 3-4 weeks for feedback. A week later after changing all my cards I received a sms alert about my daily limit being changed and when I checked with the bank i was told that it was changed to R 4200.00 but they couldn't tell who has changed it. Later I was told that my complain has been rejected.
