Do u really know what is covered

When I woke up in the morning my electricity had tripped. We unplugged all the plugs in the house and discovered the fridge was causing the tripage. We checked the plug which seem to be ok. I called Forbes and they advised that I need to get my own electrician out as it will be a claim against the policy. I then called an electrician and he came out and he open the DB board and found the wires have melted.

I then instructed them to repair the wires so that we can have electricity and repair the stove and fridge. I then called Forbes and they asked for the damages report and the claim form with the invoice. They called me to advise me that the claim was rejected as they spoke to the electrician who advised that the loss occurred due to wear and tear. who maintains their DB board as this is heavy current and not something that one would tamper with on a day to day basis. There is accidental damage cover on the policy which would cover power surge. How was I too know that the wires were due to melt. I have been living in the house for several years with no problem until today. To date I have not received a rejection letter. Maybe the Ombudsman would see this differently
