I have been with Absa Bank for the past 12 years; I opened a cheque account from savings in 2011 which at that stage were rated according to your salary and the cheapest option for banking.

I was told I would be getting 16 transactions for free and my current savings account would become a money savings pocket. For only R160, 00 a month. I never go into the bank and request statements because I have notify me,

Little did I know that I was paying my monthly cheque account fee and still being charged for each transaction?
I queried with the bank that referred me to the branch that opened the account. The attitude that I got was ''why am I only noting this now after three years and it's my responsibility to check my account frequently.'' My only answer was that who checks every sent in your account, I don't count all my cents every time I do a transaction.

If I am not receiving the service that I requested then the onus is on the bank, obviously the money that I paid over the three years are passed wrongfully to the bank and should be returned.

Who would have thought that the one you trust the most with your money would not look after you assets and keep you satisfied...
