My money not safe in the account

I gave a new tenant my banking details to pay in her rental fee directly into my std bank acc. She paid a deposit same day she viewed the place, that is the 4th of Nov. I emailed and faxed the contract to her, and then cancelled advertising on that flat. Today, 27th Nov, I get a notify me SMS from the bank reversing the payment she made. I called the bank inquiring about the transaction, and was told that tenant requested a recall. I am surprised such a big institute would allow that transaction to happen without at least contacting me especially that I am their client, secondly my acc with them is a personal acc, not a business one. I lodged a complaint and they said sorry, that procedure is valid. My question is, How does a bank allow this without confirming with me their client? That means people can easily be cheated of their hard earned money. Pay a supplier through internet, receive the goods, then go back to the bank and request for a reversal and vanish!
