Using Outdated data causing inconvenience

As a loyal customer of almost 10 years, and in good financial standing with the bank, I applied for a loan on Tuesday morning and was told they need to confirm my employment regarding my employment contract.
I had to follow up with them repeatedly by travelling back and forth to the bank as they never answer the phone, and then i was told they are trying to contact my place of employment but no one picks up the phone. As i work in that establishment i raised concern as all relevant staff members were there all day. The consultant showed me the tel no they were using. It didnt correspond with ANY numbers on the establishment's website, on my contract, in fact; i tried the no. myself in front of the consultant and it was answered by some strange man. They refused to look up the establishment on ANY other platform except their outdated one! they said they use a directory and it's not their fault if companies have not updated their details on this directory. it's 2013 and Standard bank refuses to acknowledge that you cant use an outdated system or to even TRY to look for alternatives. A simple search engine would have surficed as the said company is registered and very well known.
