Essential Med
Loss of benefits and decline in service

I have also had enough of Essential1 Doctor. Yes, they sent an email on 1 July 2013 stating that Essential Med / Care Cross had changed over to Essential1 Doctor, but where were the 'policy rules' attached stating that you were going to lose benefits. They no longer cover contact lenses, the Medicross Doctor whom you've been seeing is no longer contracted in and has no interest in being contracted in with Essential1 Doctor. In fact, there is no Practitioner available on their network in the entire southern peninsula and you are only allowed 3 out-of-contract consultations a year, which by the way, you have to pay up front and claim back. The practice won't even consider letting the fund pay for the consultation the same day after you have had the consultation. The reason I joined a fund was so that I didn't have to pay cash out of my pocket. Furthermore, I didn't sign any documentation pertaining to a change-over and agree to loss of benefits. I chose the fund especially for the Essential Med Care Cross Comprehensive Boost cover where I received the benefits I've now lost. Care Cross service was great and I never had any complaints whatsoever. It's a joke.
