I am a recent FNB customer, and use the account as a secondary account. I was recently on an overseas trip and made use of the FNB slow lounge. It was clearly communicated to me that the cost would be R250 for each my wife and myself. Returning to SA, I see that I was charged R1 000! On contacting my premier banker, Reinard Vaughan, I was asked if I was aware of the FNB terms and conditions. Apparently the cost is only R250 pp if there are qualifying transactions on your account (which in my case it was not). As upset as what I was, I threatened to close my account on a principle issue, to which he replied how much I must leave in the account to cover the bank charges!! Needless to say the account is now closed. I think this is an issue for the Obudsman as well. R1000 for a coke and a sandwich... worth it?
