(NOT) FREE benefits with Platinum Cheque account

My wife and I went to the SLOW lounge to enjoy our first ever FREE visit, which according to us and our banker, we are entitled to at least 2 free ones a month and we can offer one up to bring a guest with. I got charged R250 and my wife R500, R250 for her and R250 for our guest... Why the were we charged?
