My worst experience this year was to move my account from ABSA to FNB. Everything went well until I found out they did nothing about my overdraft application. It was just ignored or lost or whatever and finally when I got hold of someone at FNB Marvin Clark, he gives me attitude that he cannot help me as I used the telephone option to request the overdraft and not the online option. He can only help me if I used the online option. This was the fifth person I spoke to at FNB, they all just past the buck, no one wants to face the fact they delayed the process until the initial application expired. After re-applying I now have to re-submit everything and now the interest rate is higher. so when you apply FNB wants to hook you with a low interest rate, they then delay the process until the application expires and then after you have moved all your debit orders and salary payments to FNB they re-quote you with higher interest rates in a hope that you can't move back to your previous bank. This sound unlawful and un-ethical to me. Be aware fellow South Africans that you are not fooled by FNB's promises.
