Weve been with absa bank from 2001. Weve never in the 13 years fell into arrears with our home loan. Weve never paid our bond late untill recently when we seriously fell into arrears due to unforseen circumstances. Absa handed us over to the lawyers and today when we phoned the lawyers to stop our house being auctioned. She said that there is nothing they can do but to wait for the court. I did not work for six months. I found a job now and is prepared to pay the bond or make arrangements. We owe the bank R40 000. the house is worth R1.4 million. In the meantime we signed an offer to purchase but the buyer is just waiting for her pension money from the Department of Education. but in the meantime we would just want to stop the auction because the bank is going to sell the house for R400 000 and we will not make our profit. Absa bank is not prepared to listen to us or help us save our home or even want to make arrangements with us. We had a similar situation with Standard bank with our other property and Standard Bank was really helpful. They extended the years and we made arrangements with them. But Absa bank just does not seem to care. We want to pay our loan. We worked hard.
