Bank error leaves me broke

A cheque deposit was made friday morning 06/08 however at 4pm the bank called to say the check amount deposited exceeded the maximum cheque amount. Which I asked if there is a maximum limit on cheque deposit why was this not stopped at the teller. Why was it accepted. I advised them this is their error and under no circumstances can the cheque be reversed as it reflects badly on my account. This was ignored and the amount reversed leaving me with a negative balance on my account. I tried contacting my prestige banker and she was on leave. The prestige line advised I needed to go into the bank to resolve. The bank then contacted the client who deposited the check to make arrangements for 2 smaller check deposits being made. Who gave the this right to arrange without my knowledge what is to happen with my money. I was to be in Durban this weekend and had to cancel as the bank took it upon them self to leave me broke with no consideration of the consequences it had on me their client. I am appalled to say the least
