Standard Bank
Humiliation

On 7/5/2013 my employer deposited a cheque into my Standard Bank acc. The cashier accepted the cheque and the deposit reflected in my acc. On 8/5/2013 the Standard Bank Branch (where the deposit was done), contacted me as the cheque was over a certain limit. The cheque was marked as unpaid. WHY did the cashier accepted the cheque. WHY was the cashier not trained about the bank`s policies? That same day, I wanted to use my cheque card. The transaction was declined and the account blocked. I was humiliated, as I could not pay for the items. I DID have more than enough funds with a overdraft facility. I then also tried to withdraw cash to pay for the items. Again the transaction was declined, and I still humiliated as I could not pay. I contacted the said branch, and was referred back to the Customer Service Helpdesk. The person could not explain the problem, and guessed it was because of the cheque. She referred me back to the branch to enquired about the problem. I refused, and my cell number was taken and told that Standard Bank will call me that same day. I`m still waiting.. Because Standard Bank accepted the cheque and then do a correction, I`m now charged bank costs. Pathetic!!!
