Standard Bank
Bank loses R10 000 forex transfe

On July 1 this year, I made a R10 000 foreign exchange transfer to an account in the Czech Republic at the Standard Bank Hillcrest Bureau de Change, but the money never reached the destination.

On 11 July I contacted my banker to investigate. After a few updates of the 'still waiting for response' type, on 29 July, my banker told me that they will have a foreign bank investigate and I will have to pay for the investigation.

I felt I shouldn't be paying for this and said I'd go see the manager of the Hillcrest branch - Tebogo Ndala.
I saw Tebogo on 1 August and she told me that she would investigate. She never contacted me again.

On 14 August R 554.73 was taken from my account with the description 'Forex entry'. I queried this with my banker and was later told that this is more money towards the forex transaction.

On 17 August, having heard nothing from the Hillcrest manager, I went back to find out why. She told me that the forex team lead was not in that day, but would contact me on Monday 20 August.. This also never happened.

Today after two months, Standard Bank cannot, and shows no interest in telling me what happened with the money I trusted them with.
