No invoices for 6 years, now they claim.we owe them R18 000!!
On the 30 August 2013. We were contacted by a debt collector regarding a credit card debt from Standard Bank. We have not been contacted in since we paid off the credit card in 2007. Suddenly we have a bill for R18 000. When contacting them they first put the phone down on me and then they told me the attorneys had contacted us previously (which is a lie). Then they told me that there is nothing they can do about it they sold the debt. About four years ago we opened an account with Standard bank and we weren't informed of any outstanding debt. The people I have spoken to in card collections were rude and incredibly unhelpful. The statute of limitations for a debt is 5 years.
