I was placed under debt review a few years ago. The court instructed the bank to charge a certain interest rate (i.e. a court order) but it seems that the bank has ignored this order. Repeated attempts by myself and my debt councillor to get some clarification on this has failed. Standard Bank is simply ignoring us. Even after numerous e-mails and promises to get back to us within 3 working days (yeah right!) we are still none the wiser why the balance of this account is now nearly double the principle debt - even after we have been paying this account for nearly 9 years. All I want is a simple explanation as to why my debt suddenly doubled between two months a few years ago. Standard Bank will not help me over the phone - all I am told is to send an e-mail and this is not helping me at all. I am at my wits end and my poor debt councillor as well. Can someone give me an answer or is the bank simply going to ignore this plea as well???
