Banks fancy themselves as institutions who see potential in people, I am a final year vet student who has applied for student loans for the last 10years. For the last 3 or 4 years Nedbank has not only not given me the amount I have requested, but has made the process as pain staking as possible. This year however takes the cake, I submitted my loan forms at the end of February. Not only has this bank wasted my time (have gone into the branch about 8 times) but my money as well (constantly calling and being told that they are trying their best and will get back to me). I also lost out on a R2500 rebate from the university for payment before June. It is 6 weeks before my final exams and instead of focusing for the biggest examinations of my life I am dodging calls from the university who are demanding payment, and pulling out my teeth talking to incompetent bankers who never ever hold true to their word. If I could get a rand for every time I was told that a banker was trying their best to resolve a problem and never got back to me I would be able to pay for my studies. When I do have money one day, Nedbank will be entrusted with none of it.
