I applied for a student loan near the 4th of January 2013 to study at Unisa. I supplied all the documents that was required on the day that I applied and all seemed in order. This included the proof of provisional registration with the amount due as requested.
Two weeks later, I followed up on the loan and was shocked to discover that the loan has not been worked on due to a "backlog". I confirmed that registration period for Unisa will end at the end of the month but was assured that all would be in order. I signed the approved loan on 29/01/2013.
On 31/01/2013, no payment have been made and I was asked to make other arrangements to pay Unisa so that they not cancel my registration due to lack of payment. I had to make a loan from a family member and call in a personal favour from Unisa in order to retain my registration. I paid it and sent the confirmation of payment and registration exactly as received from Unisa once payment was made.
Now, Nedbank is demanding a letterheaded confirmation of registration, even though I have forwarded the official e-mail I received from Unisa confirming it, which would not have been required if they'd paid on time. They are hard to contact!
