My secretary spent over 1.5 hours at FNB at the Middelburg Mall yesterday trying to cash our office cheque. She was told by both the teller and one of the relationship managers that my signature had too many dots for the "i's". I have two "i's" in my surname and there were two dots. I have been banking at FNB for over 30 years and we cash such a cheque every month. The bank employee did contact me telephonically and I gave her all the information regarding my secretary. The more I tried to explain it was all legal. the more she said they have to be careful of and that my signature did not match the one on the computer screen. I find this service unacceptable seeing that she did contact me and if she further wanted to verify the validity of the cheque, she could have phoned my office and confirmed the cheque no. and the amount with another employee. I have since contacted the Business Manager at the Middelburg branch. It was an unnecessary waste of working time and really made my secretary feel like she was the criminal.
