I accepted a quote for car insurance from Virgin Money on 20 July 2013 to take effect 1 Aug 2013. Lawrence Maphosa sent me an e-mail on the 23rd for my car inspection and confirming everything is arranged. I took my car for inspection that morning and passed. On 1 Aug my instalment did not go off. I phoned Virgin Money on Monday 5 Aug to find out what was going on. According to the lady who assisted me, Lawrence nor his Manager was at the office that day. She checked my policy number and informed me that my policy did not exist. I've been driving around with an uninsured car for 5 days! I phoned several numbers and talked to several people and no one could help me. Everyone kept saying they will get someone to call me back. I decided to accept Outsurance's quote and while on the phone with them I receive a sms from Virgin Money confirming my policy number and effective date. I phoned them back to cancel the policy and then they wasted even more of my time because I had to go all the way to the bank to cancel the debit order. This is unacceptable. What would've happened if I got into an accident? My policy had to be effective from 1 Aug and I had to phone them and find out it's not
