When the Company I worked for closed their Branch in Port Elizabeth (where I was living at the time) I went to seek legal advice as I was concerned that I would lose my car. I was referred to a Debt Counsellor, who had a good reputation. They advised me and I placed myself voluntary under Debt Review, one of the accounts was my Mini Cooper. I signed the necessary documents. The Consultant was kind enough to call at my home and I requested that the monies for the said vehicle be deducted via debit order.
This was in July 2009. It is now 2013. 6 weeks ago I received a call from BMW Financial Services to uplift the Mini. NOW I DO UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DEBIT ORDERS GO THROUGH. BUT HOW, I ASK AGAIN HOW, does an account go into arrears FOR 4 years! NO CORRESPONDENCE, NO CALLS, NO EMAILS, NO POST, all this has not changed except my residential address, which for the nature of my work, I do not give out.
If you are on Debt Review & you are one month is arrears they contact you. How did this happen?? WHO SLIPPED UP? Where was my File? I spent a small fortune on keeping the car in tip top shape all these years! NOW THIS, BEEN HARASSED!
