I opened an account with Capitec for the first time about a month ago. I was told that everything was in order and my account was ready for use. On 07/08/2013 I stopped at a garage to fill fuel. My card was declined on all the speedpoints. Besides the embarassment I was stuck there without any cash. This morning I went to the Chastworth branch to find out what was going on because when I phoned the call centre I was told that I went to the branch and blocked my card! I'm sitting at the bank from around 9:30am this morning. The consultant told me first of all that my attempt to open an account was unsuccessful. Then I was told that my card was not linked. He issued another card. I went to the atm, still couldn't withdraw. Back to the branch, their system says there are no cards linked to my account. In the middle of trying to issue a third card to me, all of which I have not used, their systems went offline! I need cash now!!! This is the most useless bank. As I sat here I witnessed numerous people throw tantrums about the pathetic service from capitec. I'm so fed up and I'm still waiting here for their hopeless computers to work again. I have a feeling I'm wasting my time waiting.
