I am currently in the property market as a first time buyer, We have found a property. I decided to apply to my own bank, FNB, who I have banked with for many years. I currently have my cheque account, credit card and vehicle with them. On applying for the home loan, they came back with a 95% bond and prime plus 1.65%. This doesnt make sense as I currently get prime on my vehicle (which in essense is higher risk) This is outrageous. My wife and I both have clean credit records (Scores over 700) and have never defaulted on any payment in our life nor do we have any judgements etc against us. I was expecting 100% bond and prime at least! I unfortunately I need to apply to their competition and if I get a better deal I will take my business elsewhere. Really not impressed FNB, so much for loyalty and HELPING your customers when they really need it. And clearly being a Platinum Customer doesnt help either.
