ABSA vehicle financing added an AIP insurance policy and deducted money for this without approval or consent! I supplied proof of insurance when I got my vehicle from the dealership. Now over 2 years later they add an insurance policy. I got a letter from them (after the first deduction went off with no warning)-apparently they tried to contact me via call centre, sms and a letter was sent which is rubbish. They have all my contact numbers and e-mail address as well-it's impossible that they exhausted all options attempting to contact me.
I've sent through proof of my existing private insurance and requested a refund for the 2 debits deducted. Their letter states the amount will be refunded to my financing account which is unacceptable - it must be credited to my savings account from which it was debited.
They did this without consent - deducted monies from my account. If this is not rectified immediately I will open a case of with the police.
I will be moving to another bank when I receive my refund-I won't be banking with / anymore. You would think in such a tough economy ABSA would be trying harder to keep their clients-this is pathetic.
