My accounts were blocked due to FICA requirements. This was done on the Friday afternoon of a long weekend. I accepted the fact that I would not have access to any finances over a four day period. I went in to the branch on the Tuesday after said long weekend and provided all required documentation for FICA purposes.

My account has since been blocked an additional 3 times. Always after hours when no ABSA employee is available to handle this type of query. The reason for the block, as I have been advised by the ABSA service consultants, is that the documentation that they accepted from has been received and logged on their systems but has not been sent to the relevant departments. My account therefore continues to be blocked causing inconvenient and embarassing situations for me, over and above not having access to my finances.

To add insult to injury, the service consultants that eventually deal with me are rude and abrupt.

Through constant requests from friends and colleagues advising me to move my business to other institutions I have stayed with ABSA. These incidents have now forced me to change my mind!!
