I went to Carlswald to get Forex for my trip to Vietnam in March. I told the very friendly and polite guy that helped me with the forex and a cash passport that I will be traveling to Vietnam and will be using my cheque card there. Once I got there I made the first transaction with no problems. Second time I couldn't make a transaction and needless to say also the rest of my trip.
Once back in South Africa I switched my phone on just to hear voicemails from some computer voice that they tried phoning me to find out if the transaction made in Vietnam were legit. My phone weren't switched on in Vietnam and thus they stopped my card. Once back I phoned and they said I tried my pin number 3 times which is impossible that I suddenly did not remember my pin code? It were the same code I used on my ABSA card that did work and weren't stopped because they actually made a note that I will use my card in Vietnam.
It's now 3 moths later, I spoke to more than one person to sort this out. I work fulltime monday to saturday and can't go into a bank, and I feel my card should never have been stopped because I did tell them I'm going out of the country and sure did not use the wrong pincode.
