My sister and I are currently sitting in Cambodia with a travel card supplied to us by American Express that we are completely unable to use! When applying for the card we informed the lady, think her name was Carmen, that we would travel thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Singapore. No problems there and the card was processed. However upon arrival in vietnam we became aware that only ONE bank supports Amex. We could only draw 70dollars per withdrawal at a fee of 2dollar to draw, plus an exchange fee plus vietnam bank charges. So much for free swiping. No where accepts Amex!!! Cash only!! We battled two weeks in vietnam and now arriving in Cambodia we are completely unable to use our Amex travel card. No ATMs accept it nor any vendors not too mention most online airlines also don't accept Amex so we cannot book onward flights online. After spending money on fees and exchange rates etc for the travel card we are now stuck with money sitting in a useless card, which after research also looks like it won't work in Indonesia which we are going to next for close on 3 weeks... we have resorted to using our regular Visa cards now paying extra fees etc. thanks a lot Amex!!!
