I received an sms on 21/06/2013 to collect my new credit card at Absa Silverton and when I got there on Saturday morning 22/06/2013, I was told that there systems were off line since 21/06/2013 and although they handed the card over to me, I was told to go to another Absa branch for fica and activation of the card. This is totally unacceptable for me, I feel they should have sent me a sms advising that there systems are off line and that they would notify me once the systems are up and running for me to come and collect my card as there are no other branches in silverton and I had to drive to Mamelodi or Eastlynne to fica and activate my card. I also think it is unacceptable for a bank to be offline for such long periods, they should have a contigency plan in place that will work for their customers.
