First National Bank
No Flexible Payment Options

I'm in the process of registering a new bond with FNB. The bond was applied for in both my wife's and my names. Hence both of our financial backgrounds were used by FNB to approve the bond. After speaking with a call centre person on 087 730 1133 I'm now told by FNB that:

1) FNB cannot split the payment of the monthly installant between the 2 applicants. Surely if the application is made by 2 applicants this is a logical expectation.
2) The payment also cannot be made monthly by EFT by the 2 applicants because it has to be a debit order from 1 account.

I'm already making payments for my ABSA bond like this and have been for the past 6 years. I always pay more (almost double) than the minimum amount. Although FNB has been made aware of this they refuse to make an exception and have stated that they would prefer for me to find an alternative bank. I found this extremely unbelievable and asked the call centre person to supply this in writing but they are also unable to to do this, making it even more unbelievable.

It seems that FNB knows how they can help me, but can't.
