I was involved in my 1st ever car accident on 30 May 2013 on Empire road JHB, I called the insurance to inform them and determine the procedures to follow, they told me that A1 assist is in partnership with them and they authorise them to tow my car to the nearest assessment place. I did as advised. To my surprise on the Monday when I called the insurance again to follow up on my claim, I was told no call was logged for an accident with my policy number and when I queried about the people i have been talking to since the accident, they said there was no record and my call will be logged afresh. On 5 June 2013 one consultant (Maritjie) called telling me that in order for the insurance to take my car at A1 Assist for panel-beating I must pay R8000 for storage and towing my car! this shocked me as i knew my car towing as being authorised and was never advised at any point that i will need to pay for anything! Now they claim they never told me i could use A1 assist and when asked to trace their records of my calls to confirm that they claim they don't have such records! What type of a financial service provider does not keep records of their calls? I'm being tricked & tossed around!
