My husband and I booked a very expensive trip to the USA in January 2012 for December 2012, I then fell pregnant in July 2012. We had no plans to cancel our trip. Due to a low lying placenta my doctor advised me not to travel. We cancelled our trip and put in a claim. TIC denied this claim as they said if we read the fine print we will see that they do not pay out due to pregnancy. We then went through all the documentation and found a clause stating "if client is advised by their doctor not to travel and client travels and something happens, TIC will not pay for the claim" I then asked the doctor for a letter. When I contacted TIC to follow because no one came back to me, they said "oh the letter did not stipulate how far pregnant I was" so I got another letter stipulating how far pregnant I was. I then left it a week and called again to follow up and was told that they never received my letter, this is untrue as I had a read receipt. Eventually Jennifer found the letter and sent it in to be assessed, she told me she would get back to me that day. She never contacted me! I followed up again the next day. TIC payed out our claim EVENTUALLY but not without a lot of fuss!
