Refusal to pay claim for windscreen after crack

I pay my premiums like a fool each and every month, expecting to be insured when I actually need it

A chip started running from the edge of my windscreen on my Chev Spark round about October 2012
after a quick call to Glassfit I was informed that this type of chip cant be repaired because it is on the edge of
the window. And the only fix is to actually have it replaced.
It didn't bother me too much cause it was small and not too visible. up to now it has actually spread further so
I contacted the insurance company.
After which I was informed that it was too late to report it now because it's more than a month later

I was never informed beforehand of this clause in the policy and I feel that there is no reason why I should pay - 700 a month if they conduct business in such unscrupulous manners

I am not happy at all with them
