Rejected Claim

On the 10 Jan 2013, I had a house break-in at my apartment. They 2 of my laptops, an IPad, my handbag, camera, DVD player, external hard drive and other electronic gadgets and stuff which were in my bag. I called the police who came and took the statement, fingerprints and assessed the point of entry of the burglars. I also alerted the insurance claims department. It took them over 4 days to respond to the claim, with a consultant calling me. She then alerted me that they will not cover any electronics if they were not specified at initiation of the policy. During initiation of the policy I did enquire and I was told that in an event of a break-in or fire any item that was in the house at that point would be covered.

To my shock, when a claims consultant informed me that they would require proof of ownership to the perfumes (of which I have boxes of) and the DVD player I received as a gift over Christmas failing which they would not be covered unless they have proof of ownership. I am also now required to provide information on my landlord's details for proof of the window being fixed. I think that its unprofessional for the company to not bring an assessor to my
