I was contacted by Diners Club last year to open a credit card account with them. As I travel a fair amount their lounge benefit was something that appealed to me. I was told by their telesales person that the ONLY condition attached was that I needed to use the card ONCE ANNUALLY.

I've just got my latest statement and they're charging me for lounge access? I called their call centre and when someone finally answered I was told that they had implemented a minimum quarterly spend of R12000, without informing me. "A company is allowed to change the way it operates" I was told, and that "notice of this change was on their website"... really, is this how you treat clients? I was not given ANY NOTICE of the change in terms to this contract - just summarily billed! Surely this is unethical and I suspect even illegal??

I asked for their banking details to pay back their precious lounge fees and get rid of this card but the banking details they gave me don't even work. Nice going Diners Club and Standard Bank!!

How do I get out of this land of lounge lizards?? This card has no value and I would like it cancelled immediately. I refuse to deal with unethical businesses!!
