How long for a response?

I made an initial application for an Amex card about a month ago now, and still do not know weather it has been successful or not. I was told I would be contacted shortly last week after they finally got my documents but I still do not have any feedback regarding the application. I am dissapointed as it is taking so long and would not expect service like this from nedbank. I applied for a gold card with standard bank before and got approved within 2 days. Please could someone advise me on the status of it as soon as you can. The application process is also very very outdated on the amex South Africa website compared to the one I use in the USA, the email address and reference we are told to use is also totally messed up, and no one seems to really know whats going on themselves. Every time I call i get a different reference to use!
